An early 18th century Imari charger, the upper side decorated with radiating panels of floral decoration in red and blue glazes with gilded highlights upon a white ground.

Restored.

Imari is the name given to porcelain made in the Japanese town of Arita. From the late 17th century until the closure of the Japanese ports in the mid-18th century, wares such as these were exported to Europe. The red and blue palette is very specific to this school of ceramics.
