Faija trained with the Swiss miniaturist Jacques Louis Comte working in Naples, and with Frederic Millet in Paris. He exhibited at the Paris Salon 1831-7 before coming to London where he was employed by the Royal Family. For further information on Faija, see V. The colours in this miniature have survived very well. The ivory has cracked in three places however this has occurred away from the sitter
