The Candlesticks are of a very rare and desirable early date and stand on a stepped square base, with cut corners, which rise to a sunken circular well. Both pieces have unusual baluster shaped stems, with octagonal knops and an octagonal socket. The candlesticks are fully marked in the foot and with the Leopard's head on the sockets. This is an early date for candlesticks and this pair are in quite excellent condition and the base is engraved with a contemporary Crest. Joseph Bird was a very fine maker who specialised in the production of candlesticks at this date and had workshops in Foster Lane.

Height: 6 inches, 15cm
Base Diameter: 4.25 inches, 10.63cm.
Weight: 20oz the pair.
