This very rare Vinaigrette is modelled as a hunting horn and the main body is unusually made from a piece of agate, instead of horn. The end is beautifully modelled to simulate a thistle, with a citrine set into it, to simulate a flower. The hinged cover is finely chased with thistles and is also inset with a larger facetted citrine. The cover opens up to reveal a hinged gilded grille engraved with pluming scrolls and a flower head. This piece has a vacant shield shaped cartouche applied to the agate body and it also displays its original chain and finger ring. The condition of this piece is excellent and its quality is exceptional. These vinaigrettes are almost certainly Scottish, however examples seldom come onto the market, especially with an agate body.

Length: 2.4 inches, 6cm
