The porcelain upon which this portrait is painted come from the Rihouet Factory. Louis Marie Francois Rihouet founded the Paris porcelain factory and was appointed from 1824 "fournisseur du roi et du duc d'Orleans (supplier of King and Duke d'Orleans).
The painting itself was executed by the well known female Parisian artist Sophie Lienard. Lienard worked in Paris and exhibited at the Salon between 1842-1845. She died in 1845 in Paris.
Lienard painted many members of the D' Orleans family and as this portrait is painted on porcelain which was manufactured by Rihouet, the suppliers for the D'Orleans family, it is quite likely that the sitter represents one of the female members of that family.
