Look at what I found on the Online Galleries website!
A fine example of a excellent craftsmanship from the 1900's these chairs have been designed to be on display as well as being a practical pair of chairs which would have been used in the study or drawing room. These chairs are also often found placed either side of an important piece of furniture in a hallway, living room and also a library room.
Of superb proportions and very well drawn this elegant pair of armchairs have been carved to the highest standard from solid walnut. The shaped back with central shell motif and shaped backsplat are held by the arms in a most unusual manner (one which we have not seen before!), beautifully by a ball and claw with the arm shaped to intimating the wing of an eagle and terminating in a well carved eagles head. The drop in squab covered in a tan leather hide enclosed by moulded frame and supported by ornately carved cabriole legs with carved shell to the knee and terminating on ball and claw feet.
In excellent condition having been fully restored using traditional methods with no breaks or repairs and structural sound this fine quality pair of armchairs / desk chairs could grace any home.
The best quality pair of desk chairs we have had the pleasure of purchasing in a long time and will be hard to beat in terms of quality and design.
