A Magnificent and Important Napoléon III Gilt-Bronze-Mounted Cut-Brass-Inlaid Red Tortoiseshell 'Boulle' Marquetry Ebony and Ebonised Two-Door Drawing Room Cabinet.

This fine cabinet is decorated overall with fine première partie boulle marquetry inlay of scrolling arabesques and strapwork. The armoire has an arched pediment centred by a gilt-bronze cartouche and is flanked to the corners by gilt-bronze urns. The uprights are headed by finely cast herm figures flanking a pair of cupboard doors inset with bevelled mirrors and opening to a red velvet lined interior with four adjustable shelves. The panelled sides are centred with a roundel and the whole is raised on a shaped apron with toupie feet.
