This magnificent pair of wall appliqués are modelled as gilt bronze putto figures holding aloft foliate scrolling branches issuing six-lights, adorned with the finest cut -glass. The putti figures are exceptionally finely cast and chiselled with incredible modelling and exquisite detail. They hold aloft acanthus branches issuing six candlearms each terminating in foliate sconces and glass drip trays. The appliqués are adorned further with swags of faceted cut-glass buttons, pear shaped drops, and suspended from the drip trays finely cut faceted rule drops.
The form of the putti holding aloft the six-light candelabra, draws direct comparison to a pair of basins or jardinières with cobalt-blue glass and putti, exhibited by Baccarat at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1878.
