An Important Set of Four Gilt Bronze, Cut and Moulded Glass Neo-Classical Chandeliers by Maison Baguès. Each chandelier is of tent and basket form, with a gilt-bornze band issuing twelve scrolled candle arms and hung with acorn and oak leaf garlands, the central baluster for moulded glass stem issuing a further twelve lights.

The Baguès Company, located at 31, Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, was founded in 1840 by Mr. Noel Baguès who started his business to cast liturgical bronzes. In 1880, Eugene Baguès joined his father in business and started to develop lighting items. In the years between the two world wars, grandsons Victor and Robert expanded the business with many highly sophisticated bronze and iron items.
