The Spice Box is oval in form and is engraved on the cover with a cherub holding a rose below the Motto " No rose without thorns". Detailed buildings and a church also appear in the background. The sides are decorated with a band of foliate motifs and each side oval lug with a flower head. The base is engraved with crisp entwined scrolls. The interior of the cover displays a charming prick dot inscription " 16 Eliz Wood 98 " This is a most unusually decorated box and as such this specific example is illustrated in "Silver Boxes" by Eric Delieb, 2002 edition, Plate 12, page 15.
