The Butter Spade is cast and is of a large size and exceptional gauge. The handle is decorated with the very rare "Stag Hunt" pattern, in very crisp condition, and the top of the stem is engraved with the contemporary initials JC, below the Crest of a Baron. The triangular shaped blade is pierced with comma motifs, roundels and stylised flower heads and is engraved on the front and reverse with trellis work and unusual foliate scrolls. Most unusually, the front of the blade displays a detailed reclining cow, in high relief, which indicates the use of the spade. The reverse displays a very unusual Pierrot mask, also in high relief, where the handle is attached to the blade. Without any doubt, this is the finest Butter Spade we have ever offered, of such an unusual design, modelled in this rare pattern.

Length: 8.1 inches, 20.25cm.
Width of the blade, at the widest point: 2.1 inches, 5.25cm.
Weight: 6oz
