An Impressive Pair of Sèvres Style, Cobalt-Blue Ground, Porcelain Vases and Covers, Painted With Female Figures Personifying The Arts, and Mounted with Fine Gilt-Bronze Rams Heads.

This fine pair of vases are of exceptional quality and notable size at over 42 inches high (106 cm).

Each vase is of baluster form with a domed cover surmounted by a foliate finial and a neck embellished with tooled gilt foliage. The ovoid bodies are finely painted to the front and back with female figures and attendant putti, personnifying on one vase Geometry and Painting and on the other Music and Literature. The painted scenes include signatures for ‘L. Fournier’ and are framed by finely tooled gilt borders.

The vases are mounted with finely cast gilt-bronze Rams head mounts to the shoulders and are raised on flaring trumpet shaped socles and canted square section gilt-bronze plinths; unusually the plinths include further cobalt blue ground tooled porcelain plaques.
