Signed and dated 1803 on the obverse, set in a turned wood frame, the reverse inscribed Rosa Dale/ With the affectionate likness/ of a sincere friend/ April 3rd 1856.

Charles Jagger was one of the rare artists from Bath to live and work in the city throughout his life. He appears not to have exhibited his work in London, in spite of his notable talent. His miniatures are finely coloured and are the work of an accomplished draughtsman
