Exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, in 1887
Liverpool Museum and Art Gallery has one of his works on display.
Corsica is now the main base for the French Foreign Legion, but was once the haunt of pirates. The word 'Corsair' being derived from the name of the Mediterranean island where until as late as 1931, bandits roamed the hills.
