her hair dressed in ringlets, wearing drop gold earrings and low cut white dress
set in the lid of a circular wooden box, the gilt-metal lid engraved The Oak of/ which this Table is made/ was Under the Foundation of / Old London Bridge/. Upwards of 650 Years/ and taken up from thence in 1833 by/ William John Jolliffe Esq., and Sir Edward Banks./ The Contractors and Builders of / New London Bridge.

The first bridge at the site of the current London Bridge was recorded as far back as 1016.
The 19th century structure by Sir Edward Banks and William John Jolliffe was superseded in 1972 by the current bridge which links the City of London with Southwark.
