The Dish is of oblong form and the base stands on four very unusual cast lion paw feet decorated with floral rosettes above and flanked by fluted and pierced bracket supports. The rim of the base is decorated with egg and dart designs and is engraved with a contemporary Crest. The high domed cover is decorated with a band of lobing and terminates in a cast detachable handle formed as conjoined acanthus capped cornucopia on a foliate bracket mount. Both the front and the reverse are engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by a scroll and Rococo shell cartouche. The Armorial is that of William Baker Esq., of Lismacue House, County Tipperary. The estate was purchased by another William Baker on 15th October, 1704 for £ 923. The present hose was completed in 1813 to the design of the architect, William Roberts. It is a classically proportioned Irish country house set in 200 acres and approached by an avenue of lime trees. It is probable that William Baker purchased this piece in the Regency style for his new Regency House.
