A pair of shaped rectangular Wine labels, 1827, George Lowe, engraved for 'Madeira' and 'Sherry'. Only one wine label has the Chester town mark. These interesting labels have been cut from a piece of George II silver - perhaps a Cake basket - and retain the marks for Samuel Herbert and Co., London 1751. The 'Sherry' label has the leopards' head for the period 1739-1755 and the 'Madeira' label has the other three marks.
Remains of some black infill on the Madeira label.
The weight given below is for both labels together. The dimensions are for the labels without the chains.
