Each of shouldered ovoid form with applied ruyi head borders picked out in gilding, flanked by lion-mask ring handles, the domed covers with seated lion-dog knops.
Similar jars of this type are discussed by C.J.A Jorg, Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 1997, p.236, pl.269, `Bequest of the widow of J.T.Royer to King William I, 1814. Royal Cabinet of Curiosities, transferred to the Rijksmuseum in 1883....because of their pedigree they must be dated before 1814 and not a later date....'
