Watercolour on ivory in a round gilt metal frame, the reverse glazed to reveal the sitter's details: Lord Alfred Paget/b. June 26 1816/D. August 24 1888.
Lord Henry Paget was a soldier, courtier and Liberal politician, he sat in the House of Commons between 1837 and 1865.
The miniature was left by Alberta Victoria Paget, Lord Alfred's fourth daughter to Arthur Paget.
He was the fourth son of the 1st Marquess of Anglesey, he became a Lieutenant in the Royal Horse Guards. In 1837 he was elected MP in Lichfield and held the seat until 1865.
He was Chief Equerry and Clerk Marshal to Queen Victoria. He lived at 42 Grosvenor Place, London and at Melford Hall, Sudbury, Suffolk.
From January 1854- February 1875 he was a director of the North Staffordshire Railway Company. He married Celia, second daughter and co-heiress of George Wyndham, of Cromer Hall, Norfolk in 1847 and they had 14 chidden.
He died aged 72 off the /coast of Inverness in 1888.
