DESCRIPTION

Antique 20th French solid silver and guilloche' enamel box, of oval form, hinged lid, the cover and the sides beautifully guilloche' enamelled, the cover is set with a hand painted panel depicting a courteous scene in a landscape covered by glass, it opens to reveal a richly gilded interior. The painted plaque is signed "J. Vallieres".

The box is exceptionally fine and well preserved, Hallmarked French silver (boar head) and Maker's mark in a lozenge (very small and difficult to read), it dates to 1910-15. The base is further engraved with the retailer's mark "ASPREY", the most important English luxury retailer.

CONDITION

Silver and enamel in great condition - No damage. The glass is loose and the painted plaque is damaged (see photo).
