The surface of this antique clock casing is embellished with black enamel accented with golden scrolling leaf decoration in addition to applied enamelled cherub motifs.
The posterior of the casing is ornamented with an impressive enamel scene depicting two Roman deities embraced amidst clouds with a cherub/putti grasping the man's robes.
The clock is surmounted with an impressive chased decorated eagle rousant finial.
The clock face is encompassed with an impressive gilded scalloped border and is fitted with a hinged cover with an inset oval glass 'window'.
The cover opens to allow access to the impressive dial ornamented with Roman hour numerals, encircled with enamel scroll and stylised floral decoration.
The posterior of the timepiece allows access to the mechanical settings and fully operational winding mechanism; the clock retains the original key.
The hinged clock face opens to reveal a further enamelled scene depicting a picturesque windmill and cabin in a rural setting; enamel decoration to the interior of the clock casing indicates the high quality of this piece.
This magnificent timepiece is supported by an exceptional bearded fawn figure, accented with enamel to his braces and pan flute; the fawn secures to the base with a screw fitting.
The fawn stands to a circular plinth encompassed with interlacing scrolling leaf designs embellished with multi-coloured enamelling.
The lower portion of the plinth is encircled with an applied plain scalloped border with alternating blue circular motifs.
The black enamel domed base is ornamented with four circular panels of enamel scenes, each displaying a reclined female figure interacting with a winged cherub.
The enamel scenes to the base alternate with applied figural mask designs accented with enamelled scrolling decoration.
The base is supported by four winged cherubim masks, each surmounting a plain scrolling foot.

There is some minor loss to the original black enamel (see image 13); this does not detract from the aesthetically pleasing appearance of this magnificent timepiece.
Although the enamelling is specialised work, it is possible to have the enamel repaired at an additional cost; this work could take between 3-6 months.
The clock is in working order and keeps good time.
There are no hallmarks which can be expected from such a piece; the date and origin can be determined by the composition and decoration.
Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this antique silverware.
