Generally they would weave only a proportion of a medallion in the corner of Wagireh sampler along with more of the field design, so more often they would not be symmetrical in design. This Bidjar rug is such a small size it is hard to think it was woven for any other purpose than to be a sampler. Rugs from Bidjar are very tough due to their structure which consists of usually five weft threads, two are loose wool threads followed by one taut cotton thread, then a further two loose wool threads. These are tightly beaten together against the knots, creating an extremely tight, compact rug. They tend to be floral in design, with the 'Herati' fish design commonly used in the main field and border.
