The body is embellished with an embossed unicorn illustration to one side and a lion to the other.
The body is further ornamented with large leaf and floral designs to either side of the handles.
This impressive porringer is fitted with two C scroll handles with bifurcating lower terminals.
The underside bears the retailer's mark 'Tessiers, London'.
* Britannia standard silver was introduced by the British government in 1697 to denote an alloy of silver containing 95.84% silver, with the balance usually copper. Since the hallmarking changes of 1999 Britannia silver has been denoted by the hallmark 958.
