The surface of the wine taster is embellished with impressive embossed star designs in addition to paralleling circular motifs.
The underside of this sterling silver wine taster is ornamented with further embossed decoration in a simplified floral and petal formation.
The impressive example of antique silverware is fitted with two rope twist decorated S scroll handles.
A sterling silver wine taster of this period and in such an exceptional condition is becoming increasingly scarce.
NOTE: After surviving the Great Fire of London the records at the London Assay office were destroyed by fire in 1681; their catalogues and documentation began again in 1697. Due to this unfortunate event we are unable to associate a maker to this item.
