The surface of the box is embellished with fine vibrant royal blue guilloche enamel framed to the edges by inlaid marcasite.
The hinged cover is fitted with a curved marcasite inlaid thumbpiece allowing access to the compartment which accommodates the original key.
The key is embellished with a lozenge shaped enamel and silver handle with marcasite to the centre.
To the underside of the box is a key hole to activate the winding mechanism, and a small lever to the right side to start the musical tune.
The interior of the box retains the original gilding.
This impressive antique piece has been independently tested using state of the art technology and verified as .925 sterling silver.
This very fine musical box is in original and perfect condition.
