Austrian silver. An early antique salver of square form with a shaped reeded border and raised on corner feet. Good plain style, typical of the early 1700's. Uninscribed. Excellent colour. Weight 420 grams, 13.5 troy ounces. Height 2.6 cms. Width 21.5 cms. Marked on top with the Austro Hungarian silver wheel mark containing the year, circa 1750, and the old continental silver grade “13”. 13 loths are equivalent to the silver purity grade 812 (sterling silver is 925 out of 1000. Makers initials “FI”.
This handsome salver is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Good patina. No signs of erasures, the surface has a good gauge and no movement.

The silver mark is slightly rubbed to the left bottom corner so the date of manufacture can only be partially made out. We think it is either 1738 or 1758. The style is very similar to George I silver salvers circa 1720.

Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
Prior to 1888, when the German hallmarking system was unified, the previous system of antique German silver marks was based on different town marks symbols and the silver fineness was indicated in "loth" (12 loth corresponding to 750/1000, 13 loth = 812/1000, 14 loth = 875/1000, 15 loth = 937/1000).
