Silver lids are hallmarked for Sterling Silver, London, 1863, maker TW.
Oval presentation plaque on centre of lid reads "Presented to Miss Mary Elizabeth Pyne on the eve of her marriage ... 18th Jan. 1864".
Front of box has lower drawer lined in green velvet with fitted compartments, including one for a bracelet.
Inside the lid is a fold down flap containing a mirror.
The front section of the top contains a lift-out tray with three rectangular glass containers and two small glass jars all with silver lids. Centre green velvet cushion contains manicure pieces and other tools with mother-of-pearl handles.
At the back is a row of five glass containers with silver lids - two jars at either end and three bottles in the middle. Two of the glass bottles still have their original glass stoppers below the silver tops. One bottle (centre) is a replacement. The glass jar on the right is cracked.
A wonderful, and unusually complete, boxed set, in overall excellent condition for age.
