The body is encircled with a plain girdle.
To the front of the tankard are contemporary bright cut engraved initials 'GAY' framed between a barley stalk and a wheat ear.
The tankard is fitted with a domed hallmarked hinged cover with an impressive shaped pierced decorated thumbpiece.
The hinge has a pendant drop decoration to the upper face of the opposing scroll handle which displays the contemporary engraved initials GA surmounted by Y.
The handle has a shield shaped terminal.
Length from back of handle to front rim of cover 16.5cm/6.5"
Diameter of top 10.5cm/4.9"
Diameter of base 12.6cm/6.5"
