Antique Edwardian Horn, Sterling Silver and Glass Campaign Condiment Set
1904 London, England
Offered by AC Silver
Each vessel of this fine Edwardian silver condiment set has a circular tapering horn body and retains the original plain hallmarked sterling silver mounts.
The upper rims of four components are embellished with the contemporary engraved descriptive word ‘Salt’ and the remaining piece displays ‘Mustard’.
The containers are fitted with hinged hallmarked covers embellished with the contemporary bright cut engraved crests of stags head erased and a greyhound sejant, collared and leashed.
The underside of each salt is fitted with the original glass base embellished with a star cut motif; the glass base to the mustard is plain and unembellished.
The lower rim of each piece bears the retailer’s mark ‘Thornhill Ld Bond St London’.
This impressive condiment set is fitted to the original oak wood presentation box with velvet lined interior and brass fittings, including a carrying handle to the cover.
The box has the capacity to accommodate the condiment spoons; unfortunately over a period of time these components have been separated from the set.
Diameter of rim 3.7cm/1.5"
Diameter of base 6cm/2.4"
An accurate weight of silver cannot be provided due to the horn body and glass underside.

There are natural fire marks to the cover and mount of one salt; this does not detract from the aesthetically pleasing appearance of the set.
Full hallmarks struck to the mounts and part hallmarks to the interior of each cover are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Edwardian silverware.
