The surface of this impressive Hukin and Heath silver box is plain and embellished with unusual faceted convex panels to each side.
The upper and lower rims of the box are encompassed with an applied reed and scrolling leaf decorated border.
The hallmarked hinged solid silver cover features a shaped thumbpiece to the anterior edge,
The interior of this impressive box retains the original gilding.
This exceptional box was crafted by the London silversmiths John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton of Hukin & Heath.
NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining to the interior; it is a sign of quality when boxes have gilded, unlined interiors in addition to a solid silver cover.
