Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Dish Ring

The sterling silver body of the dish is embellished with impressive pierced elliptical motifs accented with circular scrolling leaf decorated panels.
The decoration to the body incorporates an oval vacant cartouche to one side.
This antique dish ring is fitted with a removable blue glass liner.
* The dish ring, also known as a potato ring, was introduced in the late 17th century and used to support a hot food dish on a table or sideboard; not only adding to the ornamentation but also protecting the surface against heat.
