Antique English First Period Worcester Porcelain Blue-Ground Cake Plate,
Circa 1770.

The porcelain saucer dish is decorated with a wet blue or mazarine blue ground. The central circular reserve is painted with two exotic birds standing on green grass and with a tall flowering plant rising above them from behind. Surrounding the reserve is a circular thin gilt band from which issues twenty one gilt arches with tapering supports in a very distinctive design.
