An incredible collection of 234 antique silver bladed fruit knives originating from a single owner and collected over more than 50 years. The collection includes a variety of styles and designs including 223 mother of pearl handled knives many handles worked and inset with decoration and silver cartouches (many engraved with initials and dedications), some of the handles are relief engraved with Prince of Wales feathers and others with other scrolling designs. The collection includes 10 twin bladed variants with one knife blade and another tool; 5 with twin-pronged pickle forks; one with an orange peeler and another with a butter knife blade. 11 of the folding knives have none mother of pearl handles and include bone, silver, tortoiseshell, wood and other materials.

Makers include: George Unite; J Y Cowlesshaw; Francis Clark; Atkin & Oxley; Aaron Hadfield; Joseph Nowill; James Fenton etc with predominantly Sheffield and Birmingham silver assay marks. Many rare and unusual variants and a collection which is worth viewing prior to purchase.

Provenance: C.E.Secker collection with copied specialist and authoritative article by him featured in 'Antique Collecting' in July 1976 with several of the fruit-knives illustrated, will be included with the knife collection.
