The spotted frog has a hinged hallmarked silver gilt cover surmounted with a lily pad and flower design.
The cover has a scrolling thumbpiece to the anterior surface of the rim, which pivots to reveal the removable glass ink pot.
The porcelain figure has detailed red painted designs to his coat with a large blue and white draped tasselled hood, which could be used as a receptacle for stamps.
The figure is seated on a shaped mirrored plateau with a hallmarked French silver gilt decorated border and base.
The base is supported by four bun feet.
