A very charming little antique silver taper stick with shaped base with knopped baluster stem. Cast silver. Weight 109 grams, 3.5 troy ounces. Height 11 cms. Base diameter 8 cms. The taper stick is marked underneath on 4 corners with English silver hallmarks for London 1754. Maker William Cafe.
This pretty taperstick is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Excellent patina. With a full set of clear and matching English silver hallmarks. The base is slightly rocky.
Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
Tapersticks, averaging about 5 inches high are miniature table candlesticks used to hold a wax taper. They are rarer than candlesticks and very few exist prior to the Queen Anne period. They usually appear in singles and pairs of taper sticks command a premium price.
