This impressive antique George III sterling silver waiter has a plain circular shaped, classic Georgian English form.

The surface of this waiter is plain and unembellished.

The raised shaped border is embellished with applied scrolling decoration to the rim accented with simplified lobed shell designs to each curved portion.

This waiter in sterling silver is supported by three impressive hoof style feet.

This impressive waiter was assayed in London and crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmith Robert Makepeace who was in partnership with Richard Carter; these makers were registered in January 1777 and the date letter 'a' pertains to 1776, it can be determined due to the hallmarking system this piece was one of the first items of silver created using this maker's mark.
