The tankard is embellished with original chased floral, leaf and scroll decoration incorporating a scene depicting two birds in a rural country setting.
The body of this tankard is further ornamented with two scrolling leaf bordered shaped cartouches: the cartouche to one side displays a bright cut engraved crest of a demi-lion rampant. The cartouche to the other side of the tankard displays a coat of arms of a saltire with roundel, above three bars wavy**.

The cover is encircled with chased floral and foliage decoration accented with a stylised motif to the top.

Both the cover and the body of this fine tankard have gilt interiors.
The large tankard is fitted with a fine opposing scroll handle ornamented with a scroll terminals and impressive scrolling acanthus leaf decoration.
