This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver teapot has a melon shaped form.

The incurved panelled body of this antique silver teapot is plain and unembellished.

The raised gallery shoulders of the teapot are encompassed with a plain applied moulded border paralleling the shape of the body.

This antique silver teapot is fitted with a plain hallmarked flush hinged cover surmounted with the original painted carved pear wood and silver topped finial, securing to the interior with a screw fitment; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of this piece.

The teapot retains the original carved pear wood C scroll handle ornamented with a single leaf design which is incorporated into the shaped thumbpiece.

The handle is fitted to a pair of cast sterling silver sockets, each embellished with organic scrolling designs and shaped petal style fixtures in junction with the pear wood.

The exceptional cast silver swan necked spout is embellished with fluted decoration to the lower portion accented with scroll and tiered designs.

The plain domed spreading foot of the teapot replicates the panelled incurved shaped form of the body and shoulders.

The initials within the maker's marks, in addition to the standardisation of the surround could pertain to a multitude of antique silversmiths; these silversmiths include William Eaton, Edwards, Esterbrook and Eley II.
