The lower portion of the plain body is embellished with fluted decoration.
The upper rim and foot are encompassed with impressive applied gadroon decoration.
This magnificent example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive chased ribbed decorated scrolling handle ornamented with a chased decorated acanthus leaf thumbpiece and upper socket in addition to a floral motif.
The lower portion of the handle is embellished with an applied waterleaf design and a pierced decorated shaped scrolling terminal.
This sterling silver flagon, crafted by the renowed and very collectable London silversmith William Bateman I, is an exceptionally large and important piece of antique silverware.
