Each piece has been crafted in the Berkshire pattern, otherwise known as Jesmond pattern, and features a lobed Trefid style handle terminal accented with a central shell motif amidst a scroll and bead decorated border.
The handle to each piece is not filled; the solid sterling silver handles indicate the fine quality of this service.
The blade of each knife has a broad incurved shaped form and the forks have four tines.
The anterior surface of each fork is ornamented with a simple tooled decorated paralleling border.
The knives are embellished with a tooled paralleling border in addition to a bright cut engraved scrolling leaf and bead design to the incurved portion.
The reverse surface of each piece is plain and unembellished.
This fine fish service is fitted to the fine and impressive original hinged mahogany box with a lift up lid and velvet lined interior.
The box is ornamented with brass fittings, including a vacant shaped cartouche and escutcheon.
