The surface of this photo frame is plain and embellished with panels of pierced scrolling decoration to the upper portion and pales reflecting the frames shape to the lower edge.
The frame is further ornamented with a single lined tooled border paralleling the serpentine shape.
This impressive Edwardian frame is fitted with a wood back and hinged strut, secured with two silver swivel catches in addition to a shaped bracket support to the upper portion; the decorative bracket piece indicates the high quality of the piece.
The body and strut of the frame have been recovered in navy velvet replicating the same appearance as the original covering.
This fine antique piece is fitted with a removable glass panel.
The posterior surface of the frame bears the registration number 'Rd 537751' in addition to the full hallmarks.
Frames such as this, in the classic Edwardian style, are highly desirable.
NOTE: The majority of such frames have a wood lining to the anterior surface; it is a sign of quality when frames have an unlined, solid silver formation.
Height of internal window 13.2cm/5.2"
