The surface of the body is embellished with impressive embossed scenes depicting figures drinking and conversing whilst children play on the lawn, all in an outdoor tavern setting; this ornamentation was influenced by Flemish/Dutch genre artwork, such as pieces crafted in the late 17th century by David Teniers II.
This antique box is fitted with a solid silver hinged cover and embellished to the sides with an embossed scrolling leaf decorated border.
The surface of the cover of the box is ornamented with a large panel depicting figures on a swing to the background with characters lounging and playing skittles to the foreground.
The interior of this fine jewellery box is fitted with a bespoke navy blue velvet fitment, with a central well and a lift out compartment.
NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining; a sign of quality when boxes are unlined and made of solid silver.
19.5 troy ounces/607g (including bespoke fitment)
