This striking antique Victorian walnut inlaid music cabinet ca 1890 has the renowned makers stamp Lambs, Manchester. The cabinet has a rectangular moulded top above a cupboard door with elegant shaped pilasters. The three panels on the door are inlaid in exotic woods with satinwood cross banding and the top panel has an unusual mother of pearl inlay. The cabinet has a copper key escutcheon, key and working lock and the interior has four sliding music trays. The lower section
has a mahogany lined drawer with original pull handles and the piece stands on shaped bracket feet, is a rich medium mahogany colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

Lambs of Manchester Furniture
Antique furniture by the furniture makers Lambs of Manchester was run by James Lamb. He was born in 1816 and joined the family business and turned it into a high class interior design, decorating and furnishing firm. The firm had a workshop in Castleford and their main gallery in John Dalton Street, Manchester. Lambs was to go onto international success winning medals at the London 1862 Exhibition and the Paris 1867 Exhibition.
