A fabulous oversize Isfahan carpet woven in the master workshops of Isfahan in the first 1/4 of the twentieth century. This is a very fine carpet in a magnificent size, very unusual to find such a large piece. The colours in this antique Isfahan carpet are exquisite, with natural dyes and the drawing of the design has been executed perfectly. The condition is very good, with a high wool pile all over and it is complete with all it's original fringes and selvedges. Isfahan carpets have been woven since the 16th century and since Shah Abbas (1587 - 1629) established looms within the imperial palace to weave exceptional Isfahans this Persian city has been well known for its quality and extremely fine, elegant carpets.
