A beautiful Victorian French four glass mantel clock, dated c.1890, in superb condition throughout, the case retaining its original mercury gilding in a bright soft satin finish. The curved beveled edge glasses are also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches.

The 8-day bell-striking movement has an open Brocot escapement visible through the dial, with a temperature compensated mercury pendulum. It is signed for Marti et Cie, with their silver medal emblem.

Two-piece white enamel dial with delicate spade hands.

Overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
SAMUEL MARTI et Cie was a well-known maker in Paris in the mid-late 1800s. In 1863 he worked with two other well-known makers Roux and Japy Freres in promoting their clock movements, and won certificates for excellence as follows:
1860 - Medaille de Bronze
1889 - Medaille d'Argent
1900 - Medaille d'Or
1931 - Grand Prix, Paris
