The body of each piece has a planished finish and is embellished with applied sterling silver decoration to one side.
The ornamentation to one item depicts a stork on the riverbank, with a fish to the left and a crab to the right, and the other displays and a figure casually fishing, with a fish attached to the line and to the right a further crab design.
The copper and silver to each piece has a good natural patination* displaying an aesthetically pleasing aged copper colour and appearance.
The hallmarks struck to the underside of each jardinière include:
Maker’s mark: Gorham Co (Gorham Manufacturing Company)
Anchor mark: Gorham trademark anchor
Date mark: O (1882)
