The candlesticks have waisted shaped capitals encircled with chased tri-lobed leaf designs.
Each capital retains the original, plain and unembellished, detachable push fit sconce.
The upper portion of each candlestick column is ornamented with two applied medallions displaying Grecian characters*; these figures are perceived to be Asclepius holding his snake-entwined staff and Panacea holding a bowl, with her arm intertwined with a snake.
The column surmounts a square domed spreading base and plain collet style rim.
The bases are embellished with bands of leaf decoration encircling the domed portions.
These impressive candlesticks do not have weighted bases.
* Asclepius is the Greek god of healing/medicine and his spouse Panacea is the Goddess of universal remedy.
Diameter of sconce 5cm/2"
Width of base 8.7cm/3.4" square
