A superb rose brass shoe horn, with wonderful shape, good weight and a lovely feel in the hand. It would have belonged to a gentleman from a fine household.

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, typically around 70% copper and 30% zinc. Rose brass, or red brass, has a higher copper content (about 90%), giving it a copper like colour, but the hardness of brass. Copper by itself is too soft a metal to use as a shoe horn.

The pitting and irregularities are from when it was cast, and show its age.
