founded in 1803 by Stephen Taprell And
William Holland. Very quickly the firm
became known as one of the largest and
most successful cabinet making firms of the
19th Century helped in no small part by
the extensive work they carried out for
the British Royal Family. They were granted the
Royal Warrant early in the reign of
Queen Victoria which allowed them to
furnish the Royal residence's at Osborne
House, Balmoral, Windsor Castle and
Marlborough House. Holland & Sons also
undertook a fair amount of work for the
British Government, helping to furnish the
Palace of Westminster and The Victoria &
Albert Museum to name just a couple.
