This exceptional antique sterling silver salver has a plain circular shaped form.

The surface of this George IV silver salver is embellished with an impressive contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting on the dexter per chevron engrailed and three talbot’s heads erased counterchanged (for Duncombe) and on the sinister a stag's head cabossed (for Legge), all above the motto 'Deo Regi Patrle'.

The raised border is ornamented with an exceptional applied gadroon decorated rim accented with scrolling leaf motifs.

This silver salver is supported by three exceptional Regency style feet, embellished with impressive shell, leaf and fruiting vine designs.

This impressive salver was crafted by the very collectable and important London silversmith Paul Storr.

* These armorial bearings undoubtedly commemorate the marriage of Charles Duncombe, the 1st Baron Feversham (born 5th December 1764 died 16th July 1841) and Lady Charlotte Legge (died 5th November 1848). Charles and Charlotte were married on the 24th September 1795 at the Parish Church of All Saints, West Bromwich in the County of Staffordshire. Charles was the eldest son of Charles Slingsby Duncombe, of Duncombe Park and Isabel Soulby, daughter of Robert Soulby, whilst Charlotte was the only daughter of William Legge, the 2nd Earl of Dartmouth and Frances Catherine Nicoll, only daughter of Sir Charles Gounter Nicoll. Charles was created Baron Feversham, of Duncombe Park in the County of Yorkshire within the Peerage of the United Kingdom on the 14th July 1826.
